This painting evolved from an interview with a partially sighted person living with hyperopia

 

“Everything close is blurred but if I look into the distance I can see those buildings quite clearly”

 

Hyperopia:

People who are long-sighted (hyperopia) can see long distances but struggle to see objects up close. This is because their eye is smaller than average and does not have enough power to see near tasks. Spectacles or contact lenses can correct this.
